SearchGPT is an AI search engine launched on 31 October 2024 by ChatGPT. To use SearchGPT, you must add ‘ ?hints=search ’ to the suffix of the ChatGPT website.
SearchGPT is supported on the web, as well as on computer and mobile apps ( official download page ), and a Chrome extension has been released for on-the-go access. The feature is currently available to all ChatGPT Plus and Team users, as well as to SearchGPT waitlist users. Business and education users will gain access in the next few weeks, and in the coming months, all free users will be able to experience this feature as well.
Note: The SearchGPT Waitlist waitlist application portal is currently closed.
Chrome Extension Instructions and Tips:
This extension sets ChatGPT as the default search engine for Chrome. Once the setting is complete, users can search directly in the browser's address bar and ChatGPT will handle your query.
ChatGPT now has a much better web search function than before. Users can quickly get real-time answers with links to sources through a natural language interface, eliminating the need to rely on traditional search engines for up-to-the-minute sports scores, news, stock quotes, and more. Each conversation also provides links to relevant news articles and blogs for further details.
If you need to use Google search, simply type ‘!g [your query]’ (e.g., !g foobar) in the address bar to switch to Google.
