Google Voice created by Google is an extension of your phone number, which means you need to have an existing number to use it. Once set up the verification code is sent to the voice app, just like a standard messaging app, Google Voice also integrates with the likes of Google Calendar and Google Meet, and also works with Gmail so that you also have the option to enable email alerts to send all your text messages as emails.

Pros.

  • Unlimited calls to US numbers
  • Alerts you to infrequently used numbers that are about to expire
  • Free, no ads
  • Can set up email alerts for text messages

Cons

  • Must have a real number to sign up
  • Limited to personal Google accounts in the U.S. and Google Workspace accounts in select markets

Pricing

Free for personal use, minimum $10/month/user for business use, Google Voice is very difficult to sign up for, try signing up with a US area code and logging in, but it doesn't always work.
