X is testing a free version of AI chatbot Grok
Social networking site X currently restricts its AI chatbot Grok to premium paying users. However, the social platform seems to be preparing to open up the chatbot to free users. Over the weekend, some app researchers and users posted about the free version of AI chatbot Grok being made available to users in specific regions. It was able to confirm that X is at least testing Grok access for free users in New Zealand. According to the researchers, there are currently limits on usage: 10 queries per two hours for the Grok-2 model, 20 queries per two hours for the Grok-2 mini model, and three image analysis questions per day. To use Grok for free, a user's account must be at least seven days old and have a phone number associated with it.
